ABOUT THE
CALM PROGRAMS Who should attend? The CALM program is a system of crisis de-escalation and prevention. The CALM Program emphasizes on the verbal de-escalation stages of any crisis situation, but also addresses that not every event can be verbally handled. Due to increased violence within treatment and education settings nationwide, State requirements have increased across the United States. Having a behavioral modification/crisis management system in place within your facility is now becoming a mandatory requirement for State regulations and accreditation. The CALM Program has received letters of support from State Agencies and is supported by members of the American Psychological Association (APA). Over the past eight years this program has been honed into an outstanding tool in the safe delivery of behavioral health care and modification of crisis situations. The CALM program has been found to be readily adaptable for use in a variety of settings including; schools, residential facilities, general medical settings, education institutions and even in the home. Educators, therapists, counselors and nurses are excellent candidates for the Instructor course. Why attend? In recognizing the need for dealing with aggressive behaviors you have taken the first step in developing an organizational crisis response plan. The CALM Instructor course will give you the tools necessary for developing, organizing and implementing your own crisis response team. Successful completion of the CALM Instructor course requires passing both written and competency based evaluations insuring that, as an Instructor, you will be prepared to pass the skills you have learned onto the rest of your facility!
